Teachers can exit from service in a number of ways, including resigning, retiring, or being transferred:

  • Resigning

Teachers on permanent and pensionable terms can resign by giving three months’ notice in writing or paying one month’s basic salary in lieu of notice. Resigning teachers do not receive pension benefits, but male teachers who resign or are dismissed are entitled to a WCPS refund.

  • Retiring

The mandatory retirement age for teachers in the TSC is 60 years, but teachers can retire early at 55 years. The TSC notifies teachers and NASSIT three months in advance of their retirement date.

  • Transferring
Teachers can be transferred, and the process is usually conducted during school holidays. The head of the institution must release the teacher and exit them through the posting, entry/exit portal. The receiving head of institution must then submit an online entry report. Teachers can track the status of their transfer application through the online portal.

Teachers can track the status of their exit status through the HOI online portal.
